What does a landscaper do?

Landscapers design and build outdoor spaces like gardens, parks and golf courses.   Landscaping work includes construction of hardscapes that have a structural component (e.g. decking, retaining walls) and softscapes (e.g. planting and turf installation). Depending on their speciality landscapers may also be landscape gardeners or landscape architects.

Landscapers can work in commercial spaces (e.g. playgrounds, spaces around commercial buildings and walking tracks) and residential backyards or spaces (e.g. paving, decking, turfing).

What is structural landscaping?

Structural landscaping is work involved in the construction of external landscape features, and non-habitable structures including retaining walls, fencing, driveways, paths and paving.  Structural landscapers should be licenced and insured to ensure that clients are covered for any future problems.
